FindMyPast Collaborates on WDYTYA Story Website
FindMyPast.com is joining forces with the WDYTYA to bring you a website dedicated to helping you share your family history in an exciting way. Execution is always key but I, for one, will be very interested to see the live version of this site. Social Genealogy is near and dear to my heart. What better way to engage the wider audience of shows like WDYTYA in bringing their own family history to life? These cross media platforms are essential to engaging the next generation of web savvy, media savvy genealogists. FindMyPast continues to impress with strategic partnerships and innovated collaborations.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
London 1st July 2014
Findmypast and Wall to Wall are to celebrate 10 years of Who Do You Think You Are? by launching a commercial website and online product the Who Do You Think You Are? Story website. In celebration of the brand’s tenth birthday, leading family history site, findmypast.co.uk has teamed up with Wall to Wall to create Who Do You Think You Are? Story. This site will allow all fans to create their own personalised Who Do You Think You Are? story quickly and easily, and share it with friends and family.
Fans simply need to add in the details they know about their own immediate family, and Who Do You Think You Are? Story will create a unique visual experience. Not only will it feature key events in their own family’s history, but it will also pull in important contemporary issues which would have had an impact on their lives. Wall to Wall has commissioned Findmypast to draw on its extensive archive of historical records, British newspaper cuttings, exclusive images, war records and much more, so that the commercial site Who Do You Think You Are? Story can bring history to life. The site will go live in the next few weeks but fans can sign up to receive news of the site’s launch from today at http://www.whodoyouthinkyouarestory.com. The site has been designed to cater for those who have done little or no family history research as well as those who have already started their own research.
Juliet Bauer, Chief Commercial Officer at Findmypast, said “We are hugely excited to be partnering with Wall to Wall to bring family history alive for everyone. We’re all great fans of the show, and we can’t wait to share the magic of genealogy with a wider audience.”
Claire Hungate, Co-MD of Warner Bros. Television Productions UK, said “Over the past decade Who Do You Think You Are? has inspired countless people to investigate their ancestry, and in Who Do You Think You Are? Story we have brought the brand to life, allowing the audience to create a unique and personal experience”.
